FAQs

What are my first steps if I’m interested in seeking counselling?

Taking the first step can feel like a big decision, and finding the right counsellor matters. I offer a free 20-minute introductory call where we can get to know each other a little. It’s a chance for you to see what I’m like and share what’s bringing you to counselling. I’ll listen to what’s going on for you and the kind of support you’re looking for. If it feels like a good fit, you can decide when you’re ready to book a full-length session.

How does the Counselling Process work?

In our first session, we’ll start by reviewing any questions you have about confidentiality and the informed consent form so you feel comfortable and secure working with me. From there, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you to counselling—where you might be feeling stuck or struggling, and what your hopes or goals are. We’ll also look at your resources and supports—the things that help you feel grounded and able to grow.

Each session may look a little different as we tune into what’s coming up for you.

How often we meet depends on your needs and comfort. Weekly sessions can be helpful if you’re working through something tough or want to explore things more deeply. Sometimes, four to six sessions are enough to gain some tools or work through a transition. For longer-term support, bi-weekly or monthly sessions can be a good fit.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes; I will provide you with a receipt that includes my Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) License number, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. This gives me the chance to offer the spot to someone on the waitlist. Cancellations made within 24 hours will be charged the full session fee. Thank you for your understanding!

What if I show up late?

I get it—life happens! If you’re running late, just send me a quick email to let me know. If you’re more than 10 minutes late, we’ll need to reschedule, and the session will still be charged in full. I kindly ask that you do your best to arrive on time so we can make the most of our time together.

How do I get in touch with you?

The best way to reach me is by email at jennifer.saunders@embodyyou.ca. I don’t communicate with clients through text or phone calls. If something urgent comes up, please know I can’t guarantee an immediate response. For crisis support, I encourage you to contact the BC Crisis Line at 988 or visit your nearest emergency room.
